Leader of the Autobots Optimus Prime gets towed, misses time on set
LOS ANGELES – Filming for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was prematurely halted as iconic Autobot leader Optimus Prime was clamped, towed and left in the car pound for two days.
To the dismay of director Michael Bay, Prime was due to shoot the pivotal love scene with co-star Shia LeBeouf on location in the Nevada desert when his agent called and informed him he’d been towed whilst on a shopping trip.
“At first we thought he’d not bothered to learn his lines” Bay told reporters, “Or perhaps he’d had a late night drinking session. As it turned out, he’d not put enough cents in the parking meter.”
Paramount executive Max Stein disciplined Prime, and docked the Autobot two days pay; the equivalent of a Nevada farmers yearly salary. “Prime needs to understand his importance to the smooth running of a shoot,” said Stein’s publicist Howard Gutenburg, “It’s not like we can even get in a stunt double to do his scene’s. He’s a 110 foot talking robot for fuck’s sake.”
This is not the first time filming was halted for Revenge of the Fallen. A month before the Prime fiasco Decepticon leader Megatron was instructed by Nevada state police to obtain a firearm license after he transformed into a large gun on set. He missed two weeks filming.
Michael Bay’s next project is due to start filming next year, and is probably just as shit as this one.
